ChainBreakers Recovery vision is to provide a supportive rehabilitative environment for ex-offenders, addressing re-offending risk factors in the context of employment, relationships and social skills.
ChainBreakers Recovery aims to provide an environment which would be of interest and relevance to the service users, as well as providing healthy and safe relationships. This environment would be the ChainBreakers Shed.
The shed will provide a ‘play ground’ for recovering men to attend and enable them to make new & safe ‘playmates’, thus providing intergenerational mentoring opportunities.
The shed will be manned by volunteers from the local area. These volunteers will comprise of retired men who have a background and interest in handyman skills and various hobby interests. It would be operated on a roster basis, to ensure optimum use and responsibility of the resources.
A volunteer ‘training course’ on how to relate to people from prison will also be available.
This program is for those who desire a permanent change from their past lifestyle. At present the service can only accommodate 6-8 service users.
