Kids Church runs on a Sunday morning in conjunction with the adult service. Our primary purpose is to nurture and raise up a generation of children who are empowered by Jesus to transform their families, friends and schools with His love.

Five key qualities that exist in all of our groups are:

1. Worship God – through all types of creative prayer, music, movement
2. Fun & Joy – through all aspects of our programs including games, craft, drama and relationships we aid to present a contemporary, interactive and fun program for everyone to enjoy.
3. Learn & Grow – within each program we focus on age appropriate discipleship, teaching and learning.
4. Welcome friends – children and leaders are encouraged to respect one another and to include new children who join us, whether it is for a visit or to attend regularly.
5. Share Jesus – through a variety of ways we encourage both children and leaders to support and encourage one another, to share Jesus with other people whether in prayer, actions, words etc, and to act for those less fortunate than us, for example in raising money for children and projects overseas.

Our Kids Church programs currently running are:

Tiny Tots: for children aged 15 months to 3 years

This group is run by parents and other helpers on a roster system. The children are encouraged to participate in free play activities, craft, morning tea, music and movement as well as prayer.

Little & Big Kids: for children aged 4 years to Year 6.

This group is run by leaders who work together to provide activities as a whole group – including games, morning tea, bilble story/input time, and also facilitate a small group of children as they build relationships, discuss issues further and challenge one another to grow.

FFC (Fervent Followers of Christ) is the highly energetic, faith-building group for high schoolers on Sunday mornings. We don’t hold back anything in this group. We speak out boldly, unashamedly, humbly about our love and need for Jesus Christ – the Saviour of the world. We relentlessly pursue the scriptures, the overcoming power of the Spirit to help us with the challenges of life and questions of faith.

CHRISTmas Club: Each year Kids Church run a 5 week program with a special Christmas focus for all children on a Sunday morning. While the theme may vary each year there is always a common component in that we endeavour to raise money to buy gifts for children and communities overseas through TEAR Australia.

Over the past number of years we have been able to purchase such things as a well for a village, toilets, goats, school supplies, clean safe drinking water, a health worker and a women’s self help group.

As a team we have been both encouraged and surprised by the children’s eagerness to raise money for these projects. They have done extra jobs at home, given out of their pocket money, run a cake stall at church and encouraged the rest of the church to join with the team.

Safety and Protection

At Telopea Church of Christ we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all of our members, leaders and particularly children. All of our leaders in Kids Church and any other people helping are required to pass specific worker selection criteria which includes complying with the “Working with Children” Check and participating in Child Protection training.
